Do you see work as a calling or curse?
Do you see work as a calling or curse? Is your only reason for working to make a living, or do you live for your work? Is your work drudgery or fulfilling, monotonous or challenging? Do you see work as a calling or curse?
One thing is certain, it was never meant by God to be a curse.
He invented it. When man was placed in the garden at the beginning of time, God told him to care for it and cultivate it. Obviously, that called for work. After man sinned, He said work would be harder, but He still meant it for good. So how can we have a healthy view of work? Listen to the words of Scripture, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men”. COLLISIONS 3:23 9
I can do all things through CHRIST, who strengthens me.
Whatever you do. When we adopt that view, no matter how difficult, no matter how monotonous or challenging, our motivation for work heartily to please God is the key to finding meaning in work. So whatever you do, be it a plumber or a President, a carpenter or a teacher, a janitor or CEO; a privilege to serve God by doing your best.
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise;
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the mighty things; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.
Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
Now ye are the body of Christ and members in particular.
And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? prophets? teachers? workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
Called to Be Holy
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
I have chosen you,
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
A royal priesthood,
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
