What Is The Meaning Of Word POWER? 7 Reasons WHY We Need Power-Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

 1. The Power of the Gospel of the Christ.

  • Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” It is the power of the gospel that saves a person from sin.

The gospel of Christ has power over sin and death.

  • There is no other power over sin and death, only the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is this same power that gives us the bold language to proclaim His gospel.
  • Acts 1: 8 declares the power of the Apostles, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; to the ends of the earth.
  • A powerful world leader may change someone’s economic situation, or he may change his lifestyle or his laws.
  • But, when we share the gospel, we are sharing something that will change their eternity. Also, you do not need to have the ability to speak or be famous to do it! It is the transforming Word of God, not our ability to quote it.

2. God’s Power is Eternal.

  • Romans 1:20, “For His invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable.
  • There is no other eternal power.
  • Only God can do that.
  • All other forces will be gone in time.
  • All the kingdoms will run in its path.
  • The king and the president will come in and go.
  • Only God’s power is eternal. That eternal power belongs to us as His children.
  • Remember, this is the same God Who counted all the hairs of your head.

3. God-given strength.

  • Romans 9: 7, “For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

No one on earth has the power to do this except God-given.

  • To acknowledge that one’s power is from God is to demonstrate genuine humility.
  • Contrary to popular opinion, or at least the world’s view of reality, true power does not exist in money or in the place of man.
  • It is given to God for His purposes.
  • Colossians 2:10 states, “You are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.”
  • Not only is He the Head of Heavenly power, but your Heavenly Father is the Head of all power.

5. God reveals His power.

  • Philippians 3:10, “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;”
  • Think of it!
  • The very God of the universe invites us to know Him and the power of His resurrection.
  • The power of resurrection is the only thing our living God has accomplished forever.
  • That power is ours to know because he gave us eternal life through his Son.
  • We share in the power of resurrection because that is the power that saves and preserves us.

  • 2 Timothy 1: 7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
  • This spirit of power, of love and of sound mind is a free gift from God that we do not have to work for.
  • It’s already ours! In today’s world, as mood-enhancing drugs are rampant in our society, I especially appreciate the power of common sense.
  • Only God’s Word can promise power, love, and a sound mind.

  • Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me,” Matthew 28:18. We need not feel powerless or doomed to defeat.
